Germany: Wife "Flushed Muslim Husband Down Toilet"

All too often, one encounters horrific tales of Muslim women suffering at the hands of conservative and patriarchal menfolk. A bizarre story from DPA via Expatica reports that a Muslim couple living in Dusseldorf appeared to have marital difficulties which ended in extreme violence. In this instance, the 58-year old husband apparently became a victim of his wife.

The couple are said to have hated each other. Three weeks ago, the man, a taxi driver, disappeared. His 52-year old wife told their grown-up children: "You'll never find him. I've put him down the loo."

On the night that the man was last seen, neighbors reported hearing the lavatory being constantly flushed. Police are working on the assumption that the woman had chopped up her husband's body into small pieces, disposing of some in garbage bins and flushing the rest of the body down the toilet. After disposing of her husband, the woman is thought to have given her home an extensive cleaning and repainting. Police forensic experts were able to detect traces of blood in the living room, hall and bathroom. They will be searching the sewer.

The woman was originally from Macedonia and shortly after her husband disappeared she left Germany. She was last seen in Macedonia, but though police are issuing an international arrest warrant for her, Macedonia does not extradite its citizens.

The woman had previously tried to poison her husband, and on one occasion she had seriously injured him with a hammer. Police were shocked that the long-suffering husband had never reported these incidents.
