Islamism: Six Years After The Wake-Up Call

it is now exactly six years to the day that the world woke up to the true horror and the evil of Islamism. Our comfortable safe lives, and the world around us, would never be the same again. 9/11 was a declaration of war, embroiling us in a war that must be fought every day - sometimes a war that involves more effort expended to convince the naive that we actually are in a war. A war against extremism, a war against religious fascism. A war that we can never retreat from if we value anything about the West.
Words cannot express the enormity of those events - for all who witnessed them and particularly for those who lost loved ones, the ghastly spectacle of the twin towers falling will be seared forever on their minds. The aftermath unveiled only more horror - the stories of families calling their loved ones from planes bound for destruction - the last gasps of doomed humanity, carried inexorably to their fate by people so spiritually perverted that they believed mass murder would secure them a place with Allah.
The days of the West's innocence had gone. Fat Palestinian women jumped up and down with triumphal glee as innocent lives were extinguished. One can only guess what went through the minds of those on the upper floors of the World Trade Center, close to the Windows on the World restaurant, when faced with the most dreadful option imaginable. Remain and be burned alive, or propel themselves from windows, to hurtle past almost 100 floors, falling through empty space to a certain death. The agonies of those who died before the towers collapsed, the agonies of those who had relatives inside the towers, or the Pentagon, or those knowing their plane journey would end in a fireball, are things we shall hopefully never experience in our lives.
Since that time, some people seem to have forgotten what created that day of slaughter and the loss of innocence. Conspiracy theorists, taking denial to the furthest degree, still try to capitalize on those tragic and gut-wrenching acts of Muslim terrorism to blame the CIA, the US government, anything to suggest that followers of a barbaric, bloodthirsty, punitive religion invented by a genocidal 7th century caravan-raider could never have committed such a dastardly plan. The wake-up call was made, but too many people prefer to forget, or to minimize the reality. Islamists try to rule through fear. They violently silence a few brave people and the rest of us hide in the shadows, fearful that if we too speak out, or if we are identified as enemies of Islamism, that we too will be silenced by violence.
The more this fear takes hold of people, the more difficult will be that war in the years ahead. But those with integrity and conscience must speak out. Islam is just an ideology. Islamism is the application of that ideology through force and intimidation. It must be resisted, openly, bravely. The future of the West is at stake. Six years on, and appeasement continues towards these soulless monsters who would destroy all we cherish. As individuals, in our daily lives, we must all stand up and be counted. And never give in to religious terrorism.
As Winston Churchill once said - an appeaser is one who feeds the crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.
A couple of weeks ago, I was asked by Family Security Matters to state what lessons should be learned from the events of 9/11. With 21 other contributing editors, I submitted my views. I repeat them below. For the views of the other contributing editors, click HERE.

Extremist Support for Terror Must be Stopped
By Adrian Morgan
I watched the events of 9/11 unfold live on TV in disbelief. My disbelief is now reserved for the Western politicians who promote the lie that Islamism can be "negotiated with."
Since 9/11, the U.S. has commendably acted to designate individuals and so-called charities which fund terrorism.
Britain, where I live, has been slow off the mark, and still allows terrorists to live free on its soil. Hamas charities like Interpal are given government approval, while Hamas newspapers "Filastin Al-Muslimah" and the internet journal "Al-Fatah" (aimed at children) are produced in London.
Many Muslim "representative" groups in the U.S. and Europe are influenced by Islamist ideology and strive to weaken our culture and our societies. The most serious lesson to be learned in the aftermath of 9/11 is the extent of extremist links and support for terror among these groups. Islamism of itself is a threat, as it seeks to destroy democracy.
If there is such a thing as "moderate" Islam, we in the West should encourage it by preventing all foreign funding of religious schools, mosques, and so-called "advocacy groups." If Islam is a religion of peace, its advocates and practitioners should be showing their peaceful intent by abandoning support for ALL forms of extremism and terrorism - whether on Western soil or abroad. If they cannot, they should have no place in the West. Free speech is not the freedom to plot our destruction.

Fat is right- and grown fat at our expense, as Palestinians have been existing solely on our charity, and quite well by the looks of it.
The more fool us.

If there is such a thing as "moderate" Islam.
That is a big "If". There is no such thing as a moderate koran or Hadiths, and as a consequence there are no such categories as Islamism, radical Islam, Islamofascism, or even radical Islamofascism. There is just the one koran and hence just one Islam. In this, even Imams will agree, ie when they are not engaging in disinformation or Taqqiya for Westrn audiences.
