Russia: Arrests Made in Ingush Terror Attacks
Police have arrested suspected Ingush terrorist, Iles Dolgiev, in connection with the August 31 murder of ethnic Russians, Anatoly Draganchuk and his two sons, Mikhail and Denis. The three were shot late at night in their home in the Ingushetia town of Karabulak. Their mother, Vera, a teacher of Russian, managed to escape.
Officials also said that Apti Dalakov was also a suspect in the Draganchuk murder, but he was killed by FSB troops in an anti-terror operation in Ingushetia on Sept 2 when he resisted officers.
Officials did not comment on the motive for the murder, but it's almost certainly connected to the Islamic insurrection in the predominantly Muslim republic. Islamic terrorists want to cleanse the small ethnic Russian population from the region.
Ingushetia, which borders Chechnya, is now the most troubled area in the Russian Federation. At the end of July Moscow sent 2,500 Interior Ministry troops to clamp down on the Islamic lawlessness.
Islamic militants do not want to accept rule by Moscow, and along with like-minded Islamic terrorists in Chechnya, Dagestan, and Kalbardino-Balkaria want to create a North Caucasus Caliphate.
