France: Royal Warns of "Violence" if Sarkozy Wins
More Leftist-Islamic convergence. When looking squarely at political defeat, the Socialists try to use Muslim violence to scare people into voting for them: Royal warns of violence if Sarkozy wins
PARIS (Reuters) - France risks violence and brutality if right-winger Nicolas Sarkozy wins Sunday's presidential election, his Socialist opponent Segolene Royal said on Friday.On the last day of official campaigning, opinion polls showed Sarkozy enjoyed a commanding lead over Royal, who accused the former interior minister of lying and polarising France.
"Choosing Nicolas Sarkozy would be a dangerous choice," Royal told RTL radio.
"It is my responsibility today to alert people to the risk of (his) candidature with regards to the violence and brutality that would be unleashed in the country (if he won)," she said.
Pressed on whether there would actually be violence, Royal said: "I think so, I think so," referring specifically to France's volatile suburbs hit by widespread rioting in 2005.
A relaxed Sarkozy laughed off her comments.
"She's not in a good mood this morning. It must be the opinion polls," he told Europe 1 radio.

It is a shame Royal should resort to threats. She lost her sangfroid and will lose in the polls as a result.
OT I suppose you think you are writing into the abyss at times but I read your blog every day and am sure many others do, particularly if they live in the South Pacific areas.

I'll second Jude's OT comment. I read every word written here. I visit at least once a day. I don't live in the South Pacific though ... damn!

Thanks Jude and Sir Henry;
It does feel like we are writing into the abyss sometimes, but it is necessary. It is almost an act of faith. If enough people keep doing their little part every day, we may yet wake up our brethren before it is too late.
Best regards;
RD.

Segolene Royal is totally irresponsible. It is like pouring oil on fire if she doesn't win. Fortunately, her whole campaign, based on making a monster of Sarkozy, failed pitifully !
I don't like Sarkozy either, and my own feelings would rather go to the center-left, but I voted for him. One can think whatever one wants about him, but he built his campaign on explaining his agenda, while I the same time, Mrs Royal's campaign was entirely built on personnal attacks on Mr Sarkozy. I am sure that many voters didn't like it, and that made the difference between the two.
Besides that, I am happy not to have a President who has met with the Hezbollah and told them : "I share your points of view towards the American politics." (Segolene Royal, 2 or 3 months ago)

Sadly, in Nantes and elsewhere, Sarkozy's victory has been greeted with riots.
There is no excuse for this - Sarkozy was right in 2005 to call rioters "scum".
He should re-assert the fundamental truth now, even more forcefully - that people who burn down schools and other people's cars REALLY ARE SCUM.
To reward rioting with "more understanding" and tokenism would be to condone it. I hope he stays adamant on this point, and does not - as Dominique Villepin did in the aftermath of the 2005 riots - start initiatives of appeasement.
Muslims of France should act as citizens, and if their neighbourhoods are riddled with drugs, gangs, and Muslim girls are being gang-raped if they adopt "Western" ways - then the young Muslim males are responsible. They should be treated like any other gangster or hooligan. With the full force of the law.

Keep up the good work! I usually don't comment, not supposing my thoughts are any different or valuable compared to others.
As for France, I'm glad to see enough people are sick of teh nonsense there, and want their country back, tehy got out to vote in record numbers. The idea of people creating "no go zones" in a host country, and enforcing their own laws and judicial systems, is intolerable, it is an invasion, a conquest, not "citizens". Any such area that is not safe, should be razed, turned to parking lot, rather than house violent agressors against France. before this cancer consumes the nation, same for the UK, same for the USA. Either they become and behave like citizens, or LEAVE. No submission or surrender of one inch of your native soil. Makes you wonder how the history of the world could have been different, had not King of France and Pope turned on the Templars, doesn't it?
