Netherlands: Politician Calls For Closure of Islamic Schools
Expatica reports that the maverick Netherlands politician Geert Wilders, head of the Freedom Party pvdV has once again been openly critical of Islam. In February Mr Wilders was severely criticized by the Saudi ambassador to the Netherlands, Waleed al-Khareejy, for comments he had made in De Pers newspaper.
He had said then: "If Mohammed lived here today, I would propose he be tarred and feathered as an extremist and driven out of the country." He said half of the Koran should be torn up and thrown away, and also stated: "Everything we are proud of, we are selling to the devil. Former head of the Mossad Efraim Halevy says that World War III has begun. I would not use those words, but it's true."
"Take a walk down the street and see where this is going. You no longer feel like you are living in your own country. There is a battle going on and we have to defend ourselves. Before you know it there will be more mosques than churches!"
Geert WIlders was the politician who first raised the issue of banning burkas in the Dutch Parliament, which led to a government vote to outlaw these items of apparel but little actual headway in implementing them as law.
He has a reason to have no time for Islam in the Netherlands. On November 2, 2004, 47-year old filmmaker Theo van Gogh was murdered in broad daylight in an Amsterdam street. Van Gogh was shot and stabbed by 26-year old Mohamed Bouyeri, a Moroccan with Dutch citizenship. As well as attempting to decapitate his victim, Bouyeri had used a knife to pin a "hit list" of potential targets to van Gogh's chest. Those named on this list included Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Geert WIlders.
Like Hirsi Ali, Wilders had been a member of parliament, representing the Liberal Party, or VVD. However, he resigned from the party in late 2004 because of his opposition to Turkey gaining accession to the European Union. Wilders founded his own party, the Party for Freedom (pvdV).
He and Hirsi Ali had, by the end of March 2006 attracted numerous death threats from Muslim fanatics.
When faced with such barbarism, Geert WIlders has more cause than most to have contempt for Islam. He wrote today a column in the Dutch website http://www.nieuwnieuws.nl/, which can be found HERE, in Dutch.
He called for all Islamic schools in the Netherlands to be abolished. He alluded to a comment which had been recently made by an employee of the National Coordinator for Anti-terrorism (NCTb) last month. The employee had warned Wilders to tone down his comments against Islam (effectively demanding that Wilders gives in to terrorist threats).
The head of the NCTb, Tjibbe Joustra, reprimanded the employee, but Mr Wilders is not happy. He called the incident "intimidation and of the worst kind.... A subordinate urges that the comments be toned down in the debate on Islam and the boss corrects the criticism. So the criticism is uttered, but is then also "corrected." This way Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende and Justice Minister Hirsch Ballin can wash their hands of it."
The Justice Minister had said on Friday that the talk with NCTb was to warn Mr Wilders of his security situation, and not an attempt to stifle his free speech. What the employee had failed to acknowledge is that being silent or even apologizing for insults against Islam have not stopped Muslims from murdering or threatening to kill. Therefore Wilders has to move around his own country with bodyguards.
He wrote: "Islam is rapidly pushing our Western civilisation close to the edge of the abyss. We have too much Islam in the Netherlands. Islam is more a violent political ideology than a religion."
In his column, he also alluded to the quote from the River War by Winston Churchill: "Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. No stronger retrogade force exists in the World. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step... the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome" (The River War, First edition, Vol. II, pag. 248-50).
I present more of WInston Churchill's pithy observations about Islam HERE. Geert Wildlers in his column said: "Churchill was right. We are now more than hundred years further and Islam brings our Western civilisation rapidly to the edge of the abyss. We have too much Islam in the Netherlands. Islam is more a more violent political ideology than a religion. For this reason I put a new measure for: immediately closing all Islamic schools in the Netherlands. This to protect children from the distribution of Islamic thinking. Not the Moslems as people but Islam is the core of the problem."
Wilders then states that if people do not believe him, they should listen to the accounts of those who had left Islam, the apostates. He mentions the website Apostates of Islam. On this site is a list of apostates.
Mr Wilders quotes from this website. "Yet Muhammad's life is that of a gangster godfather. He raided merchant caravans, looted innocent people, massacred entire male populations and enslaved the women and children. He raped the women captured in war after killing their husbands and told his followers that it is okay to have sex with their captives and their "right hand possessions" (Quran 33:50) He assassinated those who criticized him and executed them when he came to power and became de facto despot of Arabia. Muhammad was bereft of human compassion. He was an obsessed man with his dreams of grandiosity and could not forgive those who stood in his way. Muhammad was a narcissist like Hitler, Saddam or Stalin".
Geert Wilders concludes his column by saying: "I couldn't have said it better myself."
