US: West Pennsylvania Muslim Leaders Abhor Freedom Of Speech
Ayaan Hirsi Ali, according to the Associated Press, the International Herald Tribune and Jerusalem Post is due to address the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown, but she has received condemnation from two Muslim leaders in west Pennsylvania who seem unable to comprehend the basic principles of freedom of speech.
It is not enough for terrorists to threaten critics into silence. Hirsi Ali has had numerous death threats from Muslims in the Netherlands, where she was a Member of Parliament. These followed her scripting of a TV documentary called Submission. As a result of this TV show, the filmmaker who produced it, Theo van Gogh, was stabbed, shot and nearly decapitated in broad daylight in Amsterdam on November 2, 2004. His killer, Mohamed Bouyeri, posted a list of people whom he thought should be killed, which included Ayaan Hirsi Ali. This list was pinned to van Gogh's chest with a knife.
While such actions intimidate people into silence, or in Hirsi Ali's case caused her to live for a year and a half in strict seclusion, only venturing out with bodyguards, political Muslims who claim to be "moderate" also connive with this intimidation. They demand special rights which are imparted to no other minorities in Western nations. Groups like CAIR, the MCB and others specialize in trying to change society, and shield their religion from criticism. Yet they do little to practically prevent Muslims from threatening others who attack Islam. Despite these political Muslims' claims to be guardians of human rights, they rarely support the freedom of speech upon which Western democracies are founded.
If only unintentionally, such Muslim "representatives" actually partake in a two-pronged attack upon Western values. One prong of this front against freedom is made up of terrorists like Bouyeri and others who support death for Islam's critics, while the political Muslims intimidate government, media and educational bodies to remove any hostility against Islam, disguising their mission to erode Western values under the cover of "protecting religious minorities".
Two people have recently been at the forefront of the campaign to silence Hirsi Ali, a member of the American Enterprise Institute since September 2006, by attempting to prevent her from taking part in a discussion at the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown.
These individuals are Mahmood A. Qazi and Fouad ElBayly, of the Islamic Center of Johnstown. Qazi said: "I don't want her to poison anyone's mind. She doesn't believe in God. How can she talk about God?" Fouad ElBayly and Qazi met with Jerry Samples, vice president of academic and student affairs, in an attempt to prevent Hirsi Ali from attending the event, which was scheduled for Tuesday night. Samples agreed to let the two enemies of free speech speak about "God" later, at the university, but did not exclude Hirsi Ali. The event went ahead as planned with strong security, with no incidents.
With a hat tip to LGF, Fouad ElBayly, who is the current president of the Islamic Center of Johnstown has expressed some distinctly unpleasant attitudes, according to an article in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
ElBayly said of Hirsi Ali: "She has been identified as one who has defamed the faith. If you come into the faith, you must abide by the laws, and when you decide to defame it deliberately, the sentence is death."
He qualified his statement by saying that such an execution should only happen in a Muslim country, after Hirsi Ali received a trial. Having exposed the sheer barbarism and intolerance of dissent within the heart of Islam, ElBayly said: "If it is found that a person is mentally unstable, or a child or disabled, there should be no punishment It's a very merciful religion if you try to understand it."
I have tried to understand Islam, and I have read the Koran and Hadiths, and there is no mercy in Islam, when it is followed literally. It is a totalitarian faith. As Hirsi Ali said: "Our God demands total submission. He rewards you if you follow His rules meticulously. He punishes you cruelly if you break His rules, both on earth, with illness and natural disasters, and in the hereafter, with hellfire."
Freedom of speech means that anyone who thinks Allah is a false god, or that Islam is a false religion, should be allowed to say this without finding themselves subjected to underhanded attempts to silence them, as practiced by ElBayly and Qazi, nor to be threatened with violence, as Hirsi Ali has lived. When terrorists and extremists try to silence people from exercising their freedom of speech, then Western civilization itself is faced with a dilemma. Because of threats of death, most people do NOT criticize Islam, even when they find proofs from the Hadiths and the Koran that "prophet Mohammed" was a deceitful, war-mongering, sexually incontinent, caravan-raiding, child-molesting murderer.
So who are Fouad ElBayly and Mahmood A. Qazi? ElBayly came to the US from Egypt in 1976. Dr Mahmood A. Qazi arrived from Pakistan. He founded the Islamic Center of Johnstown, PA, and is retired from Concurrent Technologies Corporation. He has been a Muslim Chaplain under contract with the Department of Correction (DOC), Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Qazi has written an article entitled "Why Blame Islam", in which he claims that Islam is not to blame for acts of Islamic atrocities and terrorism. He justified terrorism in Afghanistan, Bosnia, Chechnya, Iraq, Kashmir, and Palestine in this article, using the mantra that the "people" are entitled to defend themselves under Islam. He claims that "if there was no occupation in this world by foreign invaders, there will be no resistance - the so called terror."
His argument certainly does not explain why in 1993, Ramzi Yousef led an Islamist attack upon the World Trade Center on February 26, 1993, killing 6 people and injuring 1,000. The USA was not acting as a colonial invader of any Muslim countries at that time. Qazi also states "Hundreds and thousands of Muslim men, women and children killed by the crusaders, who were Christians." He seems to forget that Muslims had been invading and conquering European territories before the Crusades, such as Spain.
Islamic terrorism stems from the founder of Islam himself, Mohammed. Mohammed said (on his deathbed, according to Robert Spencer): "I have been made victorious through terror". The quote comes from Sahih Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 52, Number 220: " Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah's Apostle said, "I have been sent with the shortest expressions bearing the widest meanings, and I have been made victorious with terror (cast in the hearts of the enemy), and while I was sleeping, the keys of the treasures of the world were brought to me and put in my hand." Abu Huraira added: Allah's Apostle has left the world and now you, people, are bringing out those treasures (i.e. the Prophet did not benefit by them)."
The Koran is also full of exhortations to the faithful to commit acts of terror:
Sura 8, verse 12 states: "Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): "I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instil terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them."
Sura 3, Verse 151 states: "Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority: their abode will be the Fire: And evil is the home of the wrong-doers! "
Sura 9, Verse 5 reads: "But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. "
Sura 9, Verse 29 states: "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued. "
Jizya is a tax which was imposed upon Christians and Jews living in Muslim lands, designed to force them to accept their second-class status under Islam, unless they of course converted.
It is time that those who deny critics of Islam an opportunity to exercise their freedom of speech to highlight historical truth, rather than the lies disseminated by Muslim apologists, should be identified for what they are - enemies of free speech and the real enemies of democracy.
