Australia: Muslim School Promotes Hate

The Australian yesterday reported on the goings-on at the East Preston Islamic College in Melbourne Victoria. Two Muslim students were expelled for desecrating a Bible.

The incident took place while a group of 33 teenage students were on a school camp at Bacchus Marsh last week. Bacchus Marsh is a community situated 36 miles west of Melbourne, near gorges and other scenic locations.

Three students took part in the desecration, with two more witnessing the event. A report from the school states: "The main perpetrator (a Year 7 student) urinated on the Holy Bible, tore some pages from the Holy Book and burnt them then finally spat on the Holy Book." A Year 9 student "tore pages from the Holy Book and burnt them, while a Year 7 student "tore pages from the Holy Bible and then he rolled it up like a cigarette and pretended to smoke it."

The children come from different backgrounds - one is Albanian/Malaysian, one Lebanese and another Indonesian. The first two students were expelled, while the third was suspended.

Principal Shaheem Doutie said he and the school were appalled by the incident. Omen Hauli, an imam from Newport Mosque, has been brought in to lecture the 650 students that the Bible and Christianity should be respected. The school annually receives Aus $ 3.9 million (US $3,071,942) in state and federal funding.

Half of the school's teachers are non-Muslim, and 22 of these have signed a petition which includes the statement: "This whole incident implies a deep hatred inculcated in the students towards the Christians/non-Muslim teachers."

The petition mentions "previous incidents of students misbehaving towards non-Muslim teachers" and urged the school to "take steps to rectify this explosive situation".

Further news on the case has revealed that the school has shown video material to children which calls non-Muslim Australians "evil people" and urges Muslims to openly condemn Christianity and lure people into Islam.

The video from the school's library was made by British convert Abdur-Raheem Green, (born Ashley Green) when he was in Australia in 2003. Last year, Green, who argues that Muslims and Westerners "cannot live peaceably together" was barred entry to Australia. He was placed on an Immigration Department "movement alert list". He has previously stated that East/West conflict is "ordered in the Koran" and "dying while fighting jihad is one of the surest ways to paradise and Allah's good pleasure."

When he was banned from entering Australia last August, he said: "I've always been known as a moderate. I condemn terror. Killing women and children is against Islam."

On the video which was shown to students at the East Preston Islamic College, Green states; "If we leave (Muslims) in these (non-Muslim Australian) schools they will be destroyed. You know very well what takes place in these schools ... it is all about evolution, Christmas, Easter, St Valentine's Day - a barrage. And you expect your children to survive? You think you live in a sewer and you come up smelling of roses?"

"Merely living in the company of evil people will inevitably begin to rub off on us and we will begin to acquire their characteristics."

Green was raised as a Roman Catholic before his conversion in 1987.

A teacher at the school told the Australian that students had been shown this video, though he could not confirm if the boys involved with the desecration of the Bible had viewed it.

Another teacher claimed that he had seen students downloading pages from EvilBible.com. This website attacks Christianity and Judaism.

The school has been existence for eight years, and principal Shaheem Doutie has been at his post only since April. He says that he was unaware of any radical material in the school's library.
