Russia: Muslim Leader Calls for Meaningless Truce

Russia's Central Muslim Board Chairman Talgat Tajuddin has urged Palestinian and Israeli secular leaders and clergy to sign a 40-year peace deal, with Russian religious leaders posing as guarantors, Interfax news agency reports.The heads of governments, religious leaders and the peoples of Palestine and Israel, during the Kurban-Bairam holiday and Christmas, "Must suspend all military operations, and tone down their rhetoric for the next 40 years, leaving weapons only in the hands of their armed forces and law enforcement," Tajuddin said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
An armistice between Palestine and Israel is possible with the guarantees of Russia's Central Muslim Board, the Russian Orthodox Church, the Federation of Jewish Communities, the Congress of Jewish Religious Organizations and Russia's Buddhist Traditional Sangha, Tajuddin said.[...]
