UK: Anti-Islamist Politician On Trial

46-year old Nick Griffin is the head of the British National Party, which is sometimes described as "far-right" and demonized in the media. Two years ago, he was talking about what he thought about Islam and asylum-seekers. Unbeknownst to Mr Griffin, he was being secretly filmed by the BBC. The comments were then screened on "The Secret Agent", a documentary which was more of a PC smear campaign than an objective assessment of the current BNP party policy.

In April 2005, the Cambridge University graduate and Mark Collett, another member of the BNP from Leicestershire, were charged with inciting racial hatred. They were tried and on Friday February 3 this year, the jury at the end of their two-week trial was sent home.

Messrs Griffin and Collett had been cleared of two charges against them, but the jury was unable to come to a decision on four other charges. Even though Nick Griffin said at the time that the trial outcome was a "tremendous victory for freedom", it was ordered that he and Mr Collett should face a retrial.

Mr Griffin said: "If the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) feel they must continue to persecute us simply for telling the truth then we will see them in court."

The jury had been unable then to decide on whether or not he had incited racial hatred by describing Islam as a "wicked vicious faith" in a speech to supporters. It is a sad state of affairs that a condemnation of a faith, founded by a so-called prophet who raided caravans (Koran, Sura 8), slaughtered people (700 Jews from the Banu Qurayzah in one afternoon, according to Isshaq) and who had sex with a nine-year old girl, becomes confused with allegations of racism.

The BNP had a previous history of racism from when it first began, but Nick Griffin has moved the party forward like no other figurehead before, and overt "racism" has not featured in any of its documents or policies since he became leader. The party is against immigration, against the culture of giving tax-payers' money to so-called "asylum-seekers", and most importantly, it is against the spread of Islam.

Mr Collett, then 22, is alleged to have said "Let's show these ethnics the door in 2004". Ethnicity is what it says. It is about culture, and not about race. And sadly, the problem with Britain is that a lack of integration has meant that many people who demand citizenship rights are more concerned with preserving their ethnic segregation than they are with real integration and assimilation into British society.

The retrial of Messrs Griffin and Collett began yesterday at Leeds, state Yahoo News and the BBC. Members of the "ultra left" were also present outside the court, screaming abuse and shouting tired slogans which were employed by the Socialist Worker Party during 1981 riots in Britain, such as "black and white, unite and fight".

In theory, such slogans of themselves should constitute an "incitement to violence". In the manner of Muslims, whose shouting and threats have influenced trials of Christians in Indonesia, the "ultra-leftists" continued their noisy protestations as the trial began, including sounding foghorns.

Judge Norman Jones QC, the Recorder of Leeds, told the jury that the issues before the court involved "both politics and issues relating to criminal law".

"You will hear in the course of the evidence that is given strong criticism and speeches on the Muslim religion and issues of racism, together with criticism of elements of present government policy. Members of the jury, such criticism can sometimes raise conflicts in people's minds," he said. "It is very important that the jury who are selected to try this case try it as it is, that is the charges brought that the defendants have committed criminal acts."

Jones told them to ignore any leaflets handed out to them as they had entered the court, and also said: "There's a deal of demonstrations outside today. You must not allow that in any way to influence you."

With these points clarified, the trial was adjourned. It will reconvene on Friday (tomorrow), when the prosecution will open its case.

He needs to be elected Prime Minister of England in the next election.
What I see is that this guy is THE ONLY ONE WILLING TO STAND UP TO THE ISLAMIC DESTRUCTION OF ENGLAND.
There is no other alternative as LABOR and CONSERVATIVE (what an abuse of the word) all kowtow to muslims and ignore their own peoples wellbeing and safety.
Everyone else does not want to stand up and fight against the muslims in England and this guy and his party are the peoples last hope.
Churchill would NEVER recognize the England of today as it seems to have grown into an outpost of Saudi Arabia.
I am utterly disgusted and dont know why the Brits keep electing those 2 loser, sellout, anti-Christian parties.

Amazing that he stands trial for what he said about the political ideology of islam, but those nutters preaching hatred at the Danish cartoons or demanding the death of the Pope are free to continue.

People are noticing and getting pissed off at the continual appeasement of islam and persecution of those who question it.

Hungarian - There is one guy on trial at the Old Bailey now for incitement for the Danish cartoon protests, but only one. And the language used by the two sides is not even comparable. I believe the words Griffin used when describing Islam were 'wicked vicious faith' which is certinly no more incitement to religious hatred than many passages within the Koran about Christians, Jews and assorted idolators. At the moment it feels like the calm before the storm - not too much happening on the Islamic front, other than ongoing 'civil unrest' in France, to which we appear to have become inured. But on the plus side, I think more people than ever before are coming to see the true nature of challenge we in the West face. It's going to be a slow organic process and Im think the best way is to continue to educate ourselves, modulate the way we speak about Islam and... wait. It can only be a matter of time before Islamists mount another despicable attack, and then another and then another - until people will be forced to engage with the problem rather than just characterising it as racism.

I wonder if Mr. Griffin is going to have his blog up for the trial.

His blogging at the last trial was fascinating.

Even after all these years, and many, many confirmations, it is hard still to believe that is dangerous to say negative things about Islam. It's just bizarre. Our forced denial is now pervasive in Western civilization. I have seen some of the same from Thailand, India, and Japan. Can you believe it, every infidel nation, English or not, practices self denial about reality and Islam.

Reminds me of that joke, where the philandering husband in caught in their bed with another woman - 'Who you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?'
