Iran: Government Officials Claim the U.S. Destroyed the Twin Towers

The Persian Journal reports that a high-ranking Iranian official has claimed the 9/11 attack was self-inflicted

Such behavior from the government of the Islamic so-called Republic is to be expected. What is more interesting, at least to yours truly, is the setting in which the claims were made: they were made at a Russian-Iranian "Dialogue Among Civilizations" conference held in Moscow.

The Dialogue Among Civilizations is an Iranian initiative, begun by Iranian ex-President and faux moderate Mohammed Khatami, was adopted by the U.N., eventually declaring the year 2001 "Year of Dialogue Among Civilizations" (previous link.) Sponsors since then have included former European Commission President and present Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi, as well as Spain's Socialist Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero.

The word "dialogue" seems to have magical powers over the behavior of most Western politicians--and over most Westerners, period, come to think of it. If we call something "dialogue", we assume that is the correct path to follow. But in order to conduct a genuine dialogue, two preconditions must exist: first, that compromise is possible at all; and second, that both sides are acting out of good faith, that they both want genuine resolution to the conflict.

Neither precondition exists in the phony Dialogue Among Civilizations. Western Dhimmi politicians go to these conferences hoping for a magical solution, while Muslims go looking for an advantage in their planned conquest of Europe. To conduct a "dialogue" under those circumstances, is far worse than not doing anything at all. It is very telling that an Iranian official was bold enough to tell the Moscow conference what he really thinks.
