Islamic History: Muhammad the Fat
The battle of Uhud, fought against the Meccan pagans shortly after the great Muslim victory at Badr (ca. 624 A.D.), ended in humilliating defeat for the Muslims. Muhammad commanded, although in typical fashion avoided direct combat, and in fact was wounded by a thrown rock when he was running away. But those are subjects for another time; I want to highlight something smaller, so to speak. After the battle, Muhammad tried to climb a hill to get a better view. Writes Ibn Ishaq:
The apostle made for a rock on the mountain to climb it. He had become heavy by reason of his age, and moreover he had put on two coats of mail(1), so when he tried to get up he could not do so. Talha b. 'Ubaydullah squatted beneath him and lifted him up until he settled comfortably upon it.
Yes, the apostle of Allah, the perfect prophet, the model for all times, was a fatty. "Old age" is no excuse here; several years of having mental slaves cater to his every whim seems like a more likely reason. The man who preached moderation to his followers had a problem maintaining moderation himself.

Age is definitely no excuse for Fatmo - in 624 he was what? Middle fifties, younger?
I'm 54 today, and still the same weight I was when I enlisted at 15 (you used to be ble to do that in the UK back in the sixties), maybe even slightly less.
Two coats of mail - hur hur hur. Bet he had a cricket box and a half too, eh?

Fatty was 53 or 54 at the battle of Uhud.

I certainly do, and thank you for it. We all need a laugh now and again. Well, apart from muzzies, of course.
I did once, in the Territorial Army (keeping my hand in, between contracts) have to have a couple of buddies lift me up and down to help me do some pull-ups, but I was carrying about a 100lb of kit, plus weapon, and I only had a body-weight of 140lbs. I don't think two layers of chain-mail weigh 100lb!
You know, the more I read about that slob, the more contempt I have for him and those who aspire to emulate him. Did he have ANY redeeming qualities? Didn't know he was fatmo though. I DID know that he had a habit of keeping himself out of harm's way.
He was 53 when he consummataed his marriage with Aisha, wasn't he. Poor girl. Imagine it, nine or ten years old and a big fat sweaty (hot in Saudi) slob with a tatty long beard, probably rotten teeth and bad breath (virtually everyone did in those days) ... no, it's a repulsive thought. Too much. I'm just going to have to take my brain out and wash it in zam zam water.

I think a movie depicting this character would definitely cause a stir. A fat cowardly old man that has a huge sexual appetite who happens to be a pedophile. I wonder how many temporary marriages he had with children and how many he raped, after all it is lawfull to rape your wife is'nt it. Maybe be preached his ways to get a bit more devotion from these child wifes or any other wifes he had because he just lacked charm.
Any how may Allah be with him and PBUH
