New York: Pervez Musharraf Calls for Ban on Criticism of Islam

Behold, our Pakistani ally: Nejad skips Bush speech

Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf called for a ban on the "defamation of Islam" in a speech to the UN General Assembly in which he took a veiled swipe at Pope Benedict XVI for his remarks linking the Muslim faith to violence.

"We also need to bridge, through dialogue and understanding, the growing divide between the Islamic and Western worlds," Musharraf told the 192-member assembly.

"It is imperative to end racial and religious discrimination against Muslims and to prohibit the defamation of Islam."

And in an indirect reference to Pope Benedict XVI, he added: "It is most disappointing to see personalities of high standing oblivious of Muslim sensitivities at these critical moments."[...]

Prohibit the defamation of Islam; and Musharraf, remember, is by many accounts one of the most "moderate" (moderate here is used as a relative term) Islamic leaders. And this should not be surprising; Islamic countries, including "secular" Turkey and "secular" Egypt ban criticism of Islam, the Prophet, the Koran, etc. The West needs to realize that if the barbarians ever gain power, this will be our fate as well.

Sir Henry Morgan;

I have developed warm feelings toward the man (he's like cancer; he grows on you), and that's why I call him PERVY.
