UK: Six More Muslims On Terror Charges
We reported on Tuesday September 12 that four Muslims - Hassan Mutegombwa, Yassin Mutegombwa, Musa Akmet (Ahmet) and Mustafa Abdullah - were remanded in custody on terror charges. They had been among the 14 people arrested in London on the night of September 1 to 2. Two other suspects have been released without charge. Today, six more individuals have been remanded in custody, leaving only two who are still being examined by police.
Last night, police lodged charges against the six, and they appeared today in front of City of Westminster magistrates court. One of the individuals is aged under 18, so cannot be named. Another is the former preacher at Finsbury Park Mosque, the friend of Abu Hamza who goes under the name Abu Abdullah (pictured), who featured in our Faces of Fanaticism series. He is charged under his real name of Atilla Ahmet.
Ahmet lives in Lewishman.
Those who were remanded in custody today are:
Muhammad Al-Figari
Aged 42, from Tottenham, north London
Accused under Section 6 (1) of the Terrorism Act 2006 of receiving training in terrorism, which allegedly happened between June 2 and June 4 this year, at Lyndhurst in Hampshire, and also accused of possessing materials to be used in terrorism. Has three charges in all.
Atilla Ahmet
Aka: Abu Abdullah
Aged 42, from Lewisham, south London
Has eight charges against him, including encouraging the murder of non-Muslims (soliciting to murder), publishing a statement encouraging the public to commit acts of terrorism. He will appear at the Old Bailey on 29 September.
Kadar Ahmed
Aged 19, from Plaistow, east London
Three charges including attending a wooded part near Lyndhurst between April 28 and May 1, where terrorism training took place.
Moussa Brown
Aged 40, from Walthamstow, northeast London
Charged with providing and receiving training in the manufacture or use of firearms.
Saloum Joh
Aged 21, from Putney, southwest London
Charged with possessing a shotgun under the Forearms act
Unnamed Youth
Aged 17, from Camberwell, south London
Faces four charges, including attending training sessions in terrorism in Lyndhurst from April 28 to May 1 this year.
