UK: Taxpayers Fund Muslim "Burka" Uniforms In Hospitals
The image at left is, unbelievably, now an official part of the range of patients' uniforms on offer at Preston hospital, which being a National Health Service institution, is funded entirely by taxpayers.
The news is carried by the Telegraph, 24dash.com and the Daily Mail. The unsightly costume, which looks more like something designed for radiological protection, was the brainchild of a braindead manager of the linen services at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, one Karen Jacob.
Jacob said: "I noticed a gap in the market and thought that it would be great if there was a gown that helped to preserve a patient's modesty."
The gowns are manufactured by Interweave Textiles, a Yorkshire firm. Tim Meadows, customer service manager states: "We make gowns for obese people and others with necessary requirements - is that a waste of NHS money? Surely the point is to have people feeling comfortable and get them out of hospital as quickly as possible - saving money. There are far more important issues in the NHS than cost of a few gowns."
The gown is called the Inter-Faith Gown but there is nothing inter-faith about it. It is exclusively for Muslims. No members of other faiths are so irrational as to wear such a hideous item.
The items cost £12 apiece ($23) and are made of poly-cotton, and the patent is held by TrusTECH. Jacob says: "I wasn't sure how to take my idea forward but TrusTECH have been fantastic in helping me to make it a reality and so far, the use of the gown at our Trust has produced some very positive feedback from patients."
The "Innovation Unit Manager" of TrusTECH, Dr Richard Deed, says: "I am delighted that TrusTECH has played such an important role in the development of the gown. It has already made a big difference to patients at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and it is an excellent example of how innovation in the NHS helps improve patient care."
With all the folds and fabric involved in the costume, one wonders how many Streptococcus and MRSA (drug-resistant Staphylococcus) bacteria can snuggle up inside and be transmitted around wards and amongst other patients.
Following the trial period at Preston Hospital, from November 1 there are plans to introduce them at other hospitals.
Before I start despairing at the dhimmitude of the British, at least the Daily Mail's "comments" are a sign that members of the British public are not all enthralled by such abject appeasement to alien mores.
Brian Keith says: "If they live here then they should live as we do. The NHS is supposed to be short of money, this is an unnecessary expense!"
Nina from Nottinghamshire states: "How utterly ridiculous. If these gowns do not suit their religion they are in the wrong country. Britain is still a free country and they are free to leave at any time."
Richard Compton from Richmond says: "That is the most ridiculous thing that I have ever heard. Utter nonsense. You come to another country, you must adjust to its culture and practices. When is this stupidity going to end?"

There should be a huge export market. You never see women in Muslim countries' hospitals on the TV news but presumably one would if they had these garments.
And are we going to have Muslim-female-only wards? Or maybe we already have them? My (now late) 98-year-old grandmother would have preferred that sort of arrrangement to having to occupy a bed next to a mostly-unclothed senile old man. I'll give odds that Muslim women will soon get, in the name of still-with-us 'diversity', what distressed elderly English women asked for - in vain - for years.

Karen Jacob? That name sounds awful Jewish. The Islamic maniacs are trying to murder the Jews in a bloody Jihad, and the Jews make garments for them.
How nice.
When will the Jewish people - and the Christian people (and the Hindus, Buddhists, Gays, etc...) get a clue -- Islam is coming - for you.
It's the 'religion of peace', stupid.
And me.

Whatever next? banning those bedside Bibles in case they offend muslims? Oh, I remember, they did that a few months ago.
