Opinion: The UK Middle Classes Who Are Handing Islamists Victory
The Guardian is a rather stodgy organ of the UK media, and though it is one of the few newspapers to welcome contributions from new writers (it even published my writings), it is still middle class in its appeal, and veering to the left in its editorials.
But today, Harold Evans, the former editor of the Times, writes a critique of the individuals at the "Stop the War" rally in London on Saturday, 5 August, where some protesters carried Hizbollah flags or wore Hizbollah T-shirts, and some went as far as to burn the Israeli flag in Parliament Square.
Harold Evans' commentary can be found in the Comment is Free section of the online edition of the Guardian.
What is truly shocking, and I mean this, is the number of bland and hate-filled responses from its middle class readership, people who pride themselves on their education. Only a handful of respondents have chosen to even acknowledge that Hizbollah are an Islamist terrorist organisation.
The vast majority of commenters are rabidly anti-semitic, anti-Israeli pundits, who talk of Israel and its "Imperialism" like it is the Evil Empire of Darth Vader, and the Hizbollah are furry Ewoks whose peaceful lives have been forever blighted by their Stormtrooper neighbours.
This is why Britain has no balls any more. This is why Britain is swamped with illegal Muslim immigrants, who are welcomed in and whose rights are defended, and whose sexist ways are fawned over by these patronising scions of the leftist colleges of Britain.
I cannot believe these people share the same country I grew up in. Harold Evans' article is sound, and almost pedestrian as articles go. But read the comments to understand why Britain is in crisis.

We try our hardest. Truth is the best weapon against the false "religion" that is Islam - the war-mongering ideology which seeks to destroy what our Western civilisations have achieved.

The "gentle, peace-loving" folks in the rally are true representatives of the current "thinking" in the UK. I'm in the middle of Melanie Phillips' "Londonistan", THE book on what is happening in the UK, a country so siezed with self-doubt, political correctness and a moral inversion that it casts itself as the oppressor and its enemies as its victims and is willfully offering itself up for sacrifice to the sons of mohammed. As horrifying as her descriptions often are, they are factual and on target and provide the context for the next phase of this 1400 year war. And what she says applies not just to the UK but to all of the West and wherever civilization is confronted by ancient barbarism.
