Pakistan: Mosque Bomb Attack Foiled
News from the Pakistan Daily Times states that yesterday, two small homemade bombs were discovered in a mosque in Latifabad, a suburb of the city of Hyderabad in Sindh province, southeastern Pakistan.
The Allah Wali Masjid is in a part of the suburb known as Unit No 8, near a busy shopping center. A worshipper found two suspicious bottles in the washing area of the mosque, and police were called. The mosque was evacuated and prayers cancelled. A bomb disposal squad dealt with the two devices and a spokesman announced: "We have successfully defused the bombs and foiled the attempt. The bombs were locally made and contained about 125 grams of explosive."
The bomb squad were also called to the Hyderabad Raliway station in the morning, following a phone call saying there was a bomb on the Hazara Express train, which was due to arrive at 10,20 am local time. The train was evacuated and searched, but no device was discovered.
