Bosnia: Muslims Bemoan Mohammed Episode Of South Park
Bosnian Muslims are getting their burkas in a twist about an episode of Matt Stone and Trey Parker's satirical cartoon show, which was broadcast on Sarajevo-based OBV television network on Saturday morning (July 29). The reason for the upset is that the child-molesting "prophet" Mohammed is portrayed, not doing what he did best - murder and pillage - but as a heroic character.
The episode, called "Super Best Friends" was from Season 4, and has already been broadcast on UK television in 2002 and 2003 without receiving complaints. Admittedly, when shown in the UK, South Park always had a late night slot on Channel 4, when good Muslims and jihadists are normally tucked up in bed. One devout Muslim from Glasgow said that the only reason there were no complaints is because no Muslims were aware of it.
The episode features Mo the prophet joining up with other religious characters to fight evil.
Yesterday, states Agence France Presse via Turkish Press, Enes Ljevakovic, head of a Bosnian Islamic Council, was moaning loudly. He said: "The broadcast is unacceptable and we condemn it and consider it to be a kind of provocation."
"According to Islamic tradition, the presentation of Prophet Mohammed or any other prophet is unacceptable ... even if their presentation is not sarcastic but in positive light. The cartoon was even censored in the United States ... and that is what the local Bosnian television station should have done as well," Ljevakovic moaned.
OBN TV were unrepentant, and claimed that the cartoon's depiction of the "prophet" and others from a positive angle could be seen as a lesson in morality.
Earlier this year South Park's distributors, Comedy Central, insisted that Mo's image not be shown, following the violent Muslim hysteria about the Danish cartoons, which led to the deaths of about fifty innocent people at the hands of followers of the "Religion of Peace".
Trey Parker and Matt Stone responded to Comedy Central's cowardice by showing Christ crapping on President Bush and also the American flag. There were no outcries from Comedy Central about that sort of imagery.
Muslims make up 40% of Bosnia's population, and Orthodox Christian Serbs comprise 31% of the 3,8 million inhabitants of the country. About 10% of the population are Roman Catholic Croats.
Muslims seem to be more concerned to attack anyone who makes any representation of their amoral "prophet" than to condemn the killing and abuses which happen in his name.
While decrying the freedom of expression which exists in the West, Muslims still try to abuse Western laws to deny others' freedom of expression. In France, trustees of the Mosque de Paris are currently suing the editor of Charlie Hebdo magazine, for printing five of the Danish cartoons. As a response to our satirical cartoon of the child-molesting Prophet, we even had one pathetic attempt to have our site closed down by a Muslim on grounds of "child pornography".
