US: Mel Gibson, Anti-Semite

The mind reels. Mel Gibson is arrested for drunk-driving and he reacts by... blaming the Jews! The Jews! They start all the wars in the world, and they pay cops to do their jobs and arrest drunks who drive, the cunning Jews!

Look; as usual, the newspaper story manages to make a couple of mistakes to make Gibson--and/or Catholicism--look worse; they will also feed Gibson's paranoia. Here they are:

* "According to police records, Gibson, a strict Catholic...."

No, Gibson is a schismatic Catholic, that is to say, he belongs to a Church which calls itself Catholic but separated from the Catholic Church.

* "The subtitle to one line, spoken by a Jewish priest, about Christ's blood being "on us and our children" was removed to placate his critics."

The line was not a gratuitous anti-Semitic slur; it is from the Bible. As far as I could see, the film was not anti-Semitic. (Which says nothing about Gibson's character, other that he was interested in making a film about the Passion of the Christ, a central part of the Christian faith. Even anti-Semites can control their behavior.)

Still, as for Mel Gibson himself, he is one twisted piece of insane paranoia. Take his rant about the Jews starting "all the wars." Really? Is it the Jews killing and enslaving blacks in Sudan? Was it the Jews murdering and raping schoolchildren in Beslan? Was it the Jews blowing Australians in Mali?

If my memory doesn't fail me, it was Ludwig von Mises who remarked that one of the reasons Hitler was not more vigorously oppossed, was that as long as he was attacking the Jews, a lot of people in the European democracies agreed with him. We may be seeing the same dynamic at work here; as long as the Islamic Supremacists kill Jews, a lot of people are willing to justifiy their behavior.

And yes, I got carried away; here is the story: Mel Gibson rants against Jews in drink-drive arrest

MEL GIBSON, the Oscar-winning Hollywood actor, apologised last night for his "despicable" anti-semitic rant when he was arrested on a drink-driving charge in Los Angeles.

Gibson, 50, is alleged to have tried to escape when he was pulled over on the Pacific Coast highway near his Malibu home in the early hours of Friday morning and then launched into a barrage of anti-semitic curses against the arresting sheriffs.

Police have confirmed the actor and director, who rose to fame by playing characters such as Mad Max and a mentally unstable policeman in the Lethal Weapon series, was found to have a blood- alcohol level of 0.12%, above the 0.08% Californian limit. He was charged with drink-driving and released on $5,000 (£ 2,600) bail.

In a statement issued by Alan Nierob, his spokesman, Gibson did not detail what happened but said: "I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable. I am deeply ashamed of everything I said."

Does anybody have information about the Schismatic Catholic sect that Gibson belongs to? If so, please post links to it on Western Resistance. The information should be posted because people might unknowingly the Catholic Church with these breakaway groups.
