Iran: Ahmadinejad Dreams of Israel's Destruction, Again

It is tempting to dismiss Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's statement as the rantings of a mentally unbalanced man. They surely are that, but they should not be dismissed. Ahmadinejad is also the public face of an aggressive, apocalyptic Islamic State. His visible mental problems, coupled with a history of bold violence--he was one of the planners of the takeover of the American Embassy--add to the seriousness of his remarks, not detract from them: Iran leader's warning to Israel

Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has warned Israel that it has "pushed the button of its own destruction" because of its actions in Lebanon.

He also said Israel should "pack up" and move elsewhere, repeating comments made last year.

Israel has accused Iran of involvement in the capture of the two Israeli soldiers, which sparked the current crisis, claims Iran denies.

Iran has also been accused of supplying Hezbollah with money and arms.

"Israel pushed the button of its own destruction by attacking Lebanon," Mr Ahmadinejad said while addressing an education conference.[...]

I don't think there can be much doubt that Israel could, and in some circumstances would, blast an agressive, nuclear-armed Iran back to the stone age before Iran's leaders could blink.
