Spain: Zapatero and the Kafiyyah
It is true sometimes images are worth a thousand words. And as far as images go, watching Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero sport a Kafiyyah is worth a Homeric discouse.
Zapatero, you might recall, came to power when the Spanish people, in an act of supreme cowardice, elected him following the terrorist attacks of March 11, 2004. He responded by ending all Spanish involvement in Iraq, by attempting to break a treaty with the United States by selling American military equipment to Venezuela, and in general by supporting any anti-American dictator whose boots he could lick.
This should not surprise anybody: Zapatero is a consistent socialist, who sees destruction of the 'oppressive' Capitalist system as his supreme goal. When stakes so high, what is a little Islamic oppression here and there?
What should serve as a warning to the West is that men like Zapatero can gain power through democratic means: in other words, don't think that democracy is the answer for the Islamic world, when it can become part of the problem in our own. The problems our society face are far deeper than democracy; they come from a rejection of our best philosophical traditions and their substitution for the credo of the cowards and the dreamers. Nothing but a rejection of that credo will bring us victory over an ever-encroaching Islam.

There are many threats to the modern world. While Islam is the most serious one, there are others which can weaken civilized nations and make them more succeptible to conquest by Islam.
Spain once had the courage and determination to fight Islam and cast the Muslim conquerers from their shores. Unfortunately now the left has seriously weakened their resolve and they are quickly letting Muslim immigrants become a major component in their society. The socialists are happy to have them there since they see them as a source of votes. They have no idea that once they have a critical mass no non-muslim will be safe.

Zapatero has this stupid Howdy Doody look on his face too. Maybe the guy on Zapatero's left is the puppeteer. I see one of his hands, maybe the other is working the controls.
