UK: Four Arrested In Islamist Terror Raids - Canada Link?

We reported on June 14 on the case of a 21 year old Muslim from Bradford, Aabid Hussain Khan, and a 16 year old unnamed youth from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. They were charged in London on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder, under section 57 of the Terrorism Act 2000. There was a link between these individuals and the recent arrests of terror suspects in Canada. Aabid Khan was arrested on June 6 upon his return from Pakistan.

In a series of arrests connected with the arrests of Khan and the teenager, four more people have been arrested, states the Preess Association via 24 Dash.com and the BBC.

Three individuals were arrested from Hackney in East London at 10 pm on the night of June 19 and the other man was arrested in southeast London earlier this afternoon at 3 pm local time.

All British citizens, they are now in Paddington Green high security police station. Scotland Yard is working in conjunction with West Yorkshire Police, who arrested the two individuals earlier this month.

A spokeswoman from Scotland yard said the four men were arrested in connection with "ongoing operation into alleged international terrorism being led by West Yorkshire Police, in which two people have been charged."

The four individuals are held on suspicion of the "commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism" under the Terrorism Act 2000.

Margaret Gilmore of the BBC stated: "Police are trying to establish whether they were giving support to an alleged al-Qaeda cell in Canada. The operation leading to their arrests involved West Yorkshire Police, MI5 and Scotland Yard."

As we reported earlier, 17 individuals, 12 adults and 5 individuals aged under 18, were arrested on the evening of June 2 in Toronto and its environs, Canada. It was later revealed that these individuals were suspected of plotting to attack buildings in Canada, and also had planned to decapitate the Canadian Prime Minister.
