Russia: Muslims In Hijabs Barred From Plane

According to Mosnews a group of five people, three of whom were wearing the hijab or Muslim headscarf, were barred from flying on a Russian-bound plane at an airport in Egypt. The captain was alarmed by their appearance and ordered the women to be taken off the plane.

The news, originally reported by ASN yesterday, stated that the captain informed the airport security police and three women and two men were ordered off the plane. The airport security police searched all of the luggage on the plane, which amounted to the bags of 200 people.

The five, who were Russian citizens returning home from the resort of Sharm El-Sheikh, were taken away for a security interview. They were later flown home the following day on a plane from the same airline.
