Kazakstan: Imams Have Criminal Records, Seek Only Personal Gain

An internal review of Muslim clergy in the city of Semipalatinsk shows that about 30 percent of imams have criminal records, and that many join the clergy for personal enrichment, reports Kazinform news agency.

Erkin Dunaev, head of the Spiritual Muslim Commission of Kazakstan, complained that most Muslim clergy are a worthless and lousy bunch. Now, what a surprise! We, here at Western Resistance could have told you that. Who in their right mind would want to join the most violent totalitarian cult in history, let alone be a `clergy' member?

The review included everything from a physical test to knowledge of the Koran, and a check on clergy's lifestyles.

"There are clergy who drive Mercedes or luxury jeeps, and who have luxurious houses,'' said Dunaev. "These people only think of their own personal enrichment.''

Also, 17 out of 57 imams in the city of Semipalatinsk and surrounding area proved to have criminal records. Dunaev also complained that many local clergy are taking an interest in the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat cult, which was founded in the Punjab in 1889 and which mainstream Muslim consider to be heretical. The movement is brutally persecuted by mainstream followers of the Religion of Peace, especially in Pakistan.
