Turkey: Writer On Trial For Criticism

Turkey once again experiencing some problems with the concept of freedom of speech and opinion:

One of Turkey's prominent writers, Perihan Magden, went on trial Wednesday over an article that called on the army to grant conscientious objectors the right to reject compulsory military service.
Sweden, used to have full compulsory military service of all able men, during the cold war too. But I never heard of a critics being jailed for his opinion of being against there.
The prosecution is seeking up to three years in jail for the defendant for "prompting, encouraging or spreading propaganda to deter people from accomplishing military service."
3 years for disagreeing, not that he has actually gotten this sentence, but the prosecution seems to consider it an approximate possible sentence. I rest my case. From Spacewar
