Germany: More Than 32,000 Extreme Islamists In Nation
Today Expatica brings the shocking news that, less than a month before the start of the international soccer event, the World Cup, there are currently more than 32,000 Islamist extremists living in Germany. The figure comes from a report by Verfassungsschutz, the domestic security agency.
There is a population of 3.4 million Muslims living in Germany, with more than two thirds of these being of Turkish origin. The report states that there has been an increase of about 300 individuals from the amount recorded in 2004.
There are 300 Hamas members, 900 members of Hezbollah, and 1,300 members of the Muslim Brotherhood.
But the largest group of Islamists comes from the group Milli Gorus, a Turkish-originated movement, whose name means "national Vision". There are 26,500 members of this group.
The report claims: "Even though the degree to which Germany is threatened is clearly lower than for those states which took part in the Iraq war, it must be noted that Germany is still seen ... as a helper of the US and Israel."
There are German troops based in Afghanistan, but currently there are no German military in Iraq, following a decision by previous chancellor, Gerhard Schroeder. His successor, Angela Merkel, has kept to this line.
As we reported earlier security agencies are being vigilant in the build-up to the World Cup, which commences in Berlin on June 7, and will end on July 7. There will be 32 nations sending teams, including Iran, and the venues for matches will occur in 12 cities in Germany.
But who are Milli Gorus? According to a report by the National Review, the group aims to propagate Islam in Europe, and is opposed to democracy and integration of Muslims into Western society. Sometimes one of our newsfeeds carries blatantly Islamist items from an Indian-based website calling itself Milli Gazette. The journalism is so poor and propaganist I usually ignore their "news items". According to the National Review, Milli Gazette is the official organ of Milli Gorus.
Milli Gazette has described Milli Gorus as "a shield protecting our fellow citizens from assimilation into barbaric Europe."
Milli Gorus are active in the Netherlands and Germany, and control 500 mosques. The group has been monitored in Germany since the 1980s, and has previously been described by Verfassungsschutz as a "foreign extremist organization". In 1996, a court in Hamburg described the group as a "threat to the democratic order in Germany".
The group, according to one report gained its name from Turkish politician Necmetin Erbakan, who published in 1975 a manifesto of the same name, warning against Turkey's further integration with Europe and claimed that the Common Market (now the European Union) was a Catholic and Zionist project to de-Islamify Turkey.
Originally created in Turkey for Turkish needs, the group is now adapting itself to the requirements of Muslims outside of Turkey, who are less concerned with Turkish national issues.
