UK Islam: Faces Of Fanaticism Part Four
News coming in from the Kuwaiti News Agency states that Anjem Choudary and an associate, Abdul Muhid, have been arrested.
Choudary (above left) is the former leader of the Islamist group Al-Muhajiroun, which is believed to have been responsible for sending two UK citizens, Omar Sharif and Asif Hanif to Israel. There, on April 30, 2003, the pair entered Mike's Bar in Tel Aviv, wearing explosive belts. Sharif blew himself up, killing three people and injuring 65. His associate Hanif fled the scene, and his bloated body was found in the sea 12 days later, after an apparent suicide.
Anjem Choudary used to be a solicitor, before he became a follower of Omar Bakri Mohammed. Yesterday, Choudary was arrested at Stansted airport, as was his associate, Muhid. Choudary was due to appear today to answer bail, but instead intended to run away abroad. As we reported earlier, Choudary's home had been searched in March following the protests outside the Danish Embassy on February 3. The protests had been against the Danish cartoons of the so-called prophet Mohammed. What had shocked the international community, and the UK parliament, were banners which called for the beheading of those who insulted Islam.
Choudary was at these protests, as well as at an earlier protest outside the BBC on February 2, where with a group of about 20 supporters, calls were made for the deaths of named BBC executives. A film (broadband is needed) of this and the Danish Embassy protests can be found HERE. The film is an edition of Newsnight, broadcast on February 6, and is followed by a discussion in which Anjem Choudary portrays himself in his colours of intolerance.
We reported on March 15 that Choudhary and Abdul Muhid appeared to be mentioned in a police report which said that a 39-year old and a 23-year old were bailed to appear at a London police station on April 19. The report of the pair now breaching bail conditions vindicates our original supposition.
The police should also be looking at how Anjem Choudary can afford to be able to get on board planes, when he does not work, and is in receipt of welfare benefits. Until September last year, he received around 50 pounds a week in Income Support. He returned from Lebanon in November last year, where he had been staying with Omar Bakri Mohammed, the radical sheikh who was prevented from returning to Britain last year. Bakri, who formerly ran UK's branch of Hizb-ut Tahrir, spent 20 years living off UK handouts and plotting the downfall of British democracy.
Choudary had been deported from Lebanon with others, following information given by the UK authorities. While he was with Omar Bakri Mohammed, Choudary made an insensitive TV appearance on November 1, in which he mocked the relatives and victims of those killed in the London Transport bombings of 7th July 2005. While he mocked them on Sky News, a memorial service was being held in St Paul's Cathedral. This is totally within character. He has been filmed describing the action of planes flying into the twin towers of the World Trade Center on 9/11 as "magnificent". He has called the 9/11 attackers "heroes". He also called the Columbia Space Shuttle disaster an "act of God". Choudary can be heard praising Osama Bin Laden in a RealPlayer audio HERE.
Following his return from Lebanon, Choudary made another attempt to return to Lebanon in February, shortly after attending and organising the protests outside the Danish Embassy in Sloane Square, London. The Sun reported then that Choudhary, who drives, has a wife and three children at his home in East London. His wife gets 1,700 pounds in state handouts every month, while Choudhary makes no effort to find gainful employment.
Instead of working, Choudary spends his time in Jihadist activities. He helped to set up a new group in Britain in mid-November, called Ahl ul-Sunnah Wa al-Jamma, whose membership includes ex-affiliates of his former group Al-Muhajiroun. He is linked to both the Saviour Sect and Al-Ghurabaa, which were formed when Al-Muhajiroun was officially disbanded in 2004.
Days after his deportation from Lebanon, Choudary made an appearance in Trinity College, Dublin, where he told students that Ireland was a legitimate target for Islamist terrorists.
The man who was arrested with Choudary is an equally unsavoury character. 23-year old Abdul Muhid (pictured, right), as we reported in August last year, had been in Walthamstow market, calling for British troops in Iraq to be killed, and saying that homosexuals should be hurled off clifftops. On August 16, Muhid was released from court after charges of inciting racial hatred were dropped.
In November we described how Muhid had been distributing leaflets in Waltham Cross, which called for Britain to be turned into an Islamic state.
In Southall last year, Muhid and 50 other members of the Saviour Sect used microphones to berate passers-by. Southall has a large Sikh community, and when police were called, a fight broke out.
On July 13 last year, Muhid was arrested for violent disorder and assaulting a police officer in Chingford, on the edge of North London. Charges were again dropped.
Muhid and Choudary were arrested yesterday as they were about to board a plane bound for Ireland. A police spokeswoman said: "Two men were arrested at Stansted Airport for breach of bail. They are currently in custody at a central London police station. They had been bailed to return to a central London police station today, pending investigation into material recovered in searches on March 15."
Hopefully, British justice can finally decide to act in the public's best interest, and prevent these evil and dangerous specimens from poisoning our society.
UPDATE: According to BBC News 24, Anjem Choudary has been charged with public order offences, and Abdul Muhid has been charged on two counts of soliciting to murder. They will appear at a magistrate's court tomorrow (Saturday 6 May).

If these two boyos were on their way to Ireland, it means there are probably jihadist cells there also. Maybe Ireland, close to Britain, is a good hideout for these people because they will probably not come under the same scrutiny as in Britain.
