Malaysia: Government Proposes Islamic Journalism Center
The world needs an International Islamic Journalism Center like a Cuban rafter needs saltwater. Generally speaking, journalists peddle the Islamic line as it is. Still, we should take note of what this means: first, the cartoon controversy wounded Muslim pride deeply, so we should not back down from mocking Mohammad and Islam. Second, we should keep track of those associated with this Islamic Journalism Center and their activities. Because it is clear what the objective of the Center will be: Malaysia Proposes Int'l Islamic Journalism Center
KUALA LUMPUR, May 3, 2006 (IslamOnline.net & News Agencies) - Muslim heavyweight Malaysia has proposed setting up an international Islamic journalism center to counter mounting Islamophobia and coach non-Muslim journalists about Islam and Muslims, reported the official Bernama news agency."This center can be set up along the lines of several international journalism institutes that are already in existence, offering training and fellowship programs," Information Minister Zainuddin Maidin said on Tuesday, May 2.
He told a workshop for Arab journalists that the proposed center would provide a meeting point for Muslim journalists to discuss common issues.[...]
Notice how Islam Online spreads falsehood:
US academic Stephen Schwartz on August 31 criticized the western media for failing to meet the challenge of reporting on Islam after the 9/11 attacks.
Stephen Schwartz, or, using his conversion name, Suleyman Ahmad Stephen Schwartz is a relentless Islamic apologist who soils the pages of otherwise-great TCS Daily. Failing to mention Schartz's religion and apologetic inclinations leaves a false impression on readers unaware. Expect the Islamic Journalism Center to be cut from the same cloth as Islam Online.
