India: Muslim Terrorists Kill 35 Hindus
Reports from Associated Press via Canoe News and Star Tribune, and also CNN and Itar-Tass and Reuters via The Age state that in the state of Jammu & Kashmir, the Indian state in Kashmir, a massacre has taken place of Hindus.
The attack took place in Kulhand in Doda district, in the mountains, 160 kilometers (105 miles) northeast of Jammu city on Sunday night (April 30). Hindus were taken from their homes, rounded up and shot, with 22 people killed, and an additional five were critically wounded. According to the Press Trust of India, one of those shot dead was a nine year old girl.
Earlier that day, the bodies of four Hindu cattle grazers were discovered in the village of Basantgarh, in the district of Udhampur, almost 60 miles north of Jammu. On Saturday, nine cattle-grazers were abducted by Muslim extremists, and the other five have yet to be found.
The attack in Kulhand village is thought to be the handiwork of Lashkar-e-Taiba (the legion of the righteous), which uses terrorist attacks to promote the secession of Kashmir from India. This group was responsible for the triple bombing of October 29 in New Delhi, which killed 59 people. Lashkar-e-Taiba also has individuals funding it from Britain.
Lashkar-e-Taiba has been in operation since 1989. Attacks upon Hindus in the northern Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir have forced many Hindus to flee the region. Since LAshkar-e-Taiba (and a dozen or so other separatist groups) began killins in 1989, a total of more than 66,000 people have died.
UPDATE: The International Herald Tribune states that there were 13 cattle-grazers abducted from Basantgarh on Saturday, and states that after the four bodies were recovered late on Sunday evening in a wood, the rest have been retrieved today, according to police sources. This brings to 35 the number of Hindus killed in the region since Saturday.
