US: CIA Officer Fired for Revealing Secrets
It is about darn time somebody was fired for revealing national security secrets to advance their political vision. It is not up to Mary McCarthy to decide whether secret CIA prisons should be part of U.S. national security policy. She might think they are a terrible policy, but revealing the secret to stop the policy is not part of her powers as a CIA employee. I say prosecute her to the fullest extent of the law: CIA officer fired for alleged leak to reporters
WASHINGTON -- In a highly unusual move, the CIA has fired an employee for leaking classified information to the news media, including details about secret CIA prisons in Eastern Europe that resulted in a Pulitzer Prize-winning story, officials said Friday. The Associated Press has learned the officer was a CIA veteran nearing retirement, Mary McCarthy. Reached Friday evening at home, her husband would not confirm her firing.
Just that there is no doubt on this one, I am for CIA-run secret prisons. They are an appropiate response to the nature of the enemy we face. As for Mary McCarthy, in a just world, she would hang like t-shirts from a clothesline for her treasonous behavior. But we don't live in a just world. Chances are Ms. McCarthy would escape punishment altogether and become a hero of the delusional, treasonous, and angry left in America and Europe.
