Russia: Muslim Chechen Leader in Sex Scandal
Chechen rebels have broadcast a video segment that allegedly shows devout Muslim Chechen warlord, Ramzan Kadyrov, partying with several naked women in the sauna, reports The UK's Independent.
The man in the grainy video looks like Kadyrov, but it cannot be confirmed, and his aides dismissed it as a ``provocation.'' Kadyrov officially holds the post of Chechen Prime Minister, but in reality he runs the war-torn republic as his fiefdom.
Kadyrov considers himself a devout Muslim, and so there's no surprise that Chechen, Russian and international human rights organizations have accused him and his personal army of killings, extortion, kidnapping, and torture.
In recent months, Kadyrov has pushed Shariah law on the Chechen republic, which has been the scene of an Islamic insurgency for over a decade. Kadyrov, however, seems to be adopting the same program that the rebels have long promulgated. He has leaned on local media to stop broadcasting ``immoral'' programs, forced Chechen woman to wear headscarves, outlawed gambling, called for polygamy to be legalized, initiated a partial ban on alcohol, and even ordered that women's cell phones be monitored so that wives would not be in touch with ex-boyfriends.
Muslim Chechen rebels have carried out some of the most viscous terrorist attacks in history, including the September 2004 siege of a school in Beslan that left 360 dead.
