Israel: Iran Funding Islamic Jihad's Terrorism

Shaul MofazBack in October last year, we reported on the outrageous calls made by Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for the nation state of Israel to be "wiped off the map". Though this tenure of office had only been in place for nine weeks when he made the statement, Ahmadinejad was defining the terms of his presidency. As the world's leaders and the UN condemned his statement, the Islamist continued to slander Israel and Jews.

For a brief moment it appeared that Ahmadinejad was going to soften his tone, but by the end of the month, he was once again celebrating with others on the streets who chanted "Death to Israel" on Iran's "Al Quds (Jerusalem) Day, on October 28.

Disturbing news has now come from Israel's Defence Minister Shaul Mofaz (pictured), as reported in Ynet News and Associated Press via Israel Insider. Mofaz has claimed that recently Iran has transferred nearly two million dollars to the terror group Islamic Jihad, which at the end of last year carried out suicide bombings at Hadera and Netanya.

The money, $1.8 million, was sent to the terrorist group to encourage it to commit atrocities prior to the upcoming election on 28 March. It went via Syria into the West Bank.

In Ynet News, which is associated with the Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahronot, Mofaz claimed that some money is also sent by the Iranian-backed Shia terrorist group Hezbollah to Islamic Jihad and Hamas.

Shaul Mofaz stated: "The axis of evil, including Iran, Syria, and Hizbullah, Hamas, and the Muslim Brotherhood, is consolidating. Hizbullah is also involved in some of the terror operations here and sends messages, as well as money, which arrives from Iran to the Islamic Jihad, and to Hamas, from other sources. The bottom line is that there is a consolidation of the axis of evil in two senses: One is terrorism, and the second is the Iranian nuclear project."

We reported in December, after Ahmadinejad of Iran denied the horrors of the Holocaust, that he is a follower of the ultra-conservative cleric, Ayatollah Mohammad Taghi Mesbah-Yazdi.

This cleric believes that the Shi'ite Messiah, the 12th imam Abul-Qassem Mohammad who "disappeared" in 941, will come back at the end of time as the Mahdi, to herald an era of "Islamic justice". There is only one way to achieve this. Their belief is that the "Mahdi" can only return if the world is plunged into chaos.

It appears that Ahmadinejad is trying his hardest to make his guru's dreams come true.
