Afghanistan: Albanian Muslims "Executed" By Taliban
We related on Saturday that the spokesman for the Taliban, Qazi Yousef, announced that the Taliban had captured four Albanians and their Afghan guards.
Qazi Yousef said that the fate of the captives, who had been snatched from the southern city of Kandahar, a stronghold of Taliban support, would be decided by Mullah Omar, the leader of the Taliban.
It appears now that Mullah Omar has now made his decision.
The BBC today reports that the same spokesman (whom they today call Qari Mohammad Yousuf) has said that the men have been killed.
The spokesman said that the bodies of the four, three Albanians and a German, have been deposited "between Helmand and Khandahar".
The company for which the four people worked, Ecolog, has said that the four were all Albanians, and were Muslims.
Ecolog acts to purify water for US and Afghan army bases.
The guards who were captured with them have been released. Afghan authorities have not confirmed the claims. One of these guards told the BBC: "They took the Albanians away from us to another location. We heard firing and the Albanians screaming. We couldn't see any thing because our eyes were closed."
