UK: Satirising Islamic Intolerance
We have seen how the BBC and the printed media in Britain have no backbone when it comes to facing down the extremists in the UK, and have refused to print the Mohammed cartoons which have led to the deaths of innocent individuals.
British citizens, with only the internet to inform them of what actually provoked the undignified and malicious campaigns against freedom of speech, are left in the dark about the cartoons. Many probably imagine they were created to deliberately disparage Islam, rather than being part of an exercise to show how artists were imposing self-censorship because of fears of Muslim over-reaction.
Only the Spectator, with a low circulation, briefly published the cartoons at the start of this month on its website (subscription required).
But one satirical publication, Private Eye, edited by Ian Hislop, has been milking the over-reactions of Muslims to great comic effect, and its little spoof articles and cartoons have come as a breath of fresh air in the oppressive atmosphere gripping other media outlets. This is one of their spoof articles.

Like the best humour, "many a truth is spoken in jest."
