Miami: Bomb Threat at Miami-Dade College

We do live in interesting times.

At about 4:25 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) today, I was at the library of Miami-Dade College's Interamerican Campus. The "evacuate" alarm sounded, but the voice-over message was odd: it was informing us there had been a false alarm and it was now safe to return to the building. The voice-over was interrupted by a "live" male voice telling everybody to leave the building, that it was not a drill.

I gathered my things slowly, as I was tired, and reluctanlty exited the building. I went to my vehicle, parked in the MDC parking lot outside the buildings where I continued to do what I was doing (studying and watching pretty girls when they passed by.)

After a while, things became serious, as quite a bundle of police officers began arriving at the scene. They moved everybody to the professor's parking lot. I was asked to leave my car.

We were in the dark for a while as police officers were not talking about the nature of the threat. Then they asked us to move farther away, at which point I asked a young police officer whether it was a bomb threat. "Yes", he said.

We had to wait some more, informing the people showing up late, but professors and students, what was going on.

At 5:44 p.m. there was a small explosion, which we guessed was initiated by the bomb squad.

At 5:53 p.m. the building was decleared "cleared", then I left, as my professor had left earlier.

And now I'm here, telling you the story, and ready to hunt you some Islam-related news and commentary. But before I forget, let me get some cursing off my chest:

If somebody made that bomb threat, may they rot in jail for a decade or so, hijo de la gran....

I feel better, stay tuned.
