US: State Department Calls Mohammed Cartoons Offensive
The State Department makes me want to puke. And, Mr. President Bush sir, if you don't come out forcefully in favor of freedom of speech, I might well stay home election day, and read some more books in the months before the election, and I will invite my friends to do the same. Considering I'm a reliably Republican voter and a Party activist you may consider your political self-interest, if nothing else. I don't think I can actually go to the polls and vote for the Disgusting Dhimmi Democrats, but I sure as hell can stay home: U.S. Calls Muhammad Drawings 'Offensive'
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - Tens of thousands of angry Muslims marched through Palestinian cities, burning the Danish flag and calling for vengeance Friday against European countries where caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad were published. In Washington, the State Department criticized the drawings, calling them "offensive to the beliefs of Muslims."While recognizing the importance of freedom of the press and expression, State Department press officer Janelle Hironimus said these rights must be coupled with press responsibility.
"Inciting religious or ethnic hatred in this manner is not acceptable," Hironimus said. "We call for tolerance and respect for all communities and for their religious beliefs and practices."[...]

Tragic, but I guess we have to look at it this way:
US is totally dependant on ME oil.
Denmark is totally selfsupplying for the next two decades.

No TBH, I don't think that's it.
It has more to do with our mistaken philosophical views; we believe that by putting this crisis we will eventually be able to 'win the hearts and minds' of the Muslim world. It is a pipe dream, and chasing it will cost us dearly.
