India: Muslim Tennis Player Sania Mirza Can Wear Skirt
According to the Muslim Personal Law Board, it is acceptable for a woman to wear any clothes if her profession demands it. Hopefully young Ms. Mirza won't get murdered now: Sania's skirt exempt from fatwa
Sania Mirza's short skirt has finally got approval. Muslim law-makers say their women can step out of the purdah for professional reasons. What's worrying them now are socio-economic vices that are creeping in and this has come to light after the committee on social reforms for Muslims submitted its report to the All Indian Muslim Personal Law Board in Lucknow.
The Muslim Personal Law Board - the topmost law making body of the Muslims - believes that while purdah is essential for Muslim women, they are free to wear any clothes, if their profession demands.
This has come as good news for the likes of Sania Mirza who need to wear short skirts to play tennis.
