UK: Religious "Hate" Bill Defeated

Tuesday's defeat of the Government over the Religious Hatred Bill was a simple victory for freedom, and a tribute to all the people, secular and religious, who have lobbied and prayed against the measure. It was also a great parliamentary moment.What happened was a classic opposition operation, with Labour rebels, Lib Dems and Conservatives conspiring to deceive the Government. Notably, the Lib Dems quietly recalled their MPs from the Dunfermline by-election campaign, while the Tories did not pull in their members for fear of alerting the Government.[...]
The defeat should not only cause the Government to think again about its illiberal proposals to curb free speech. It should also compel them to show more respect for the institution that once was the bastion of that liberty.[...]

It's actually lucky for the Muslims the bill didn't pass..it would have involved closing every mosque and madrassah in Britain and severely editing the Qu'ran!
Islamist groupie Cherie Blair was probably involved in creating this bill somewhere along the line...
