UK: Muslim Council - After Homophobia, The Anti-Semitism

On December 18 we brought you news that Iqbal Sacranie was toying with the idea of supporting the Holocaust Memorial Day. His group, the Muslim Council for Britain deliberately snubbed Holocaust Memorial Day in 2005, the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Like spoiled children, the MCB have whined about how it is too Jewish, and that because it commemorates the slaughter of 6,000,000 Jewish people, it is not "inclusive enough" for their Muslim sensibilities.

As I stated at the time:

So basically, he (Sacranie) is not really softening his opinion, as suggested, nor is the MCB giving blanket approval. He is emotionally blackmailing, still attempting to weaken and divert the spirit of what remembering the Holocaust is about. Attempting to "negotiate" with issues of a historical event of such proportions is to trivialise it.
Having drawn media attention to the issue by announcing a "review" of MCB's position, it is now announced in View London that the anti-semitic cabal running the MCB has announced that as the Holocaust Memorial Trust has not given in to their blackmailing, it will continue its boycott.

Yesterday, Sacranie gained several new enemies to add to a burgeoning list by publicly denouncing gays, homosexual civil partnerships and making an unubstantiated, pseudo-scientific connection between gays and the spread of disease.

It is a shame that the diseases of anti-semitism and hatred have poisoned this would-be august body, which falsely purports to represent the views of British Muslims, and is thus rendering them a grand disservice.

By continuing to exercise their boycott against the Holocaust commemorations, MCB are only proving the allegations made against them in August, on the BBC programme "A Question of Leadership", that the MCB is not representative of the majority of Muslims in Britain, that it supports extremist groups, and it is led by individuals (Sacranie and Inayat Bunglawala) who have praised terrorists like Bin Laden as "Islamic scholars".

The MCB has received enough publicity. The fact that they are exploiting the memory of families and descendants of those 6 million Jews who died in Nazi camps, to promote themselves in the press, shows how low, cheap and hateful its leaders are.

The Holocaust Memorial Day will be commemorated in Cardiff, but not on the usual date of 27 January, the anniversary date of the Auschwitz-Birchenau liberation. It has been moved a day forward, to Thursday 26, to avoid clashing with the start of the Jewish Sabbath, which commences at sundown on Fridays.

The event will be far better without the likes of manipulative and spitefully childish individuals like Sacranie. Without his malign presence, there will be more room for those who genuinely understand the true meaning of Holocaust Memorial Day. The Holocaust should be remembered for what it is, without Islamic capitalising on its significance, or having political point-scoring appended to it.
