UK: Knighted Muslim Attacks Gays As Harmful
The secretary general of the Muslim Council for Britain, the man who has previously tried to have Holocaust Day changed so it didn't focus only on Jewish victims of the Nazis, but included Muslims (who actually conspired with Hitler during WWII - see pic below right), and said of Salman Rushdie at the time of his fatwa that "death is too good for him", has now hit the headlines with an unprovoked attack on gay people.
Malawi-born "Sir" Iqbal Sacranie, who notoriously shunned celebrations of the Holocaust but found time to attend a memorial service for Sheikh Yassin, the "spiritual leader" of terrorist and anti-Israeli organisation Hamas, has recently condemned homosexuality as "not acceptable" and denounced same-sex civil partnerships as "harmful".
Speaking to the BBC on Radio 4's PM programme, he also showed what a dissembling weasel he can be by saying that people should practice "tolerance".
"Each of our faiths tells us that it is harmful and I think, if you look into the scientific evidence that has been available in terms of the forms of various other illnesses and diseases that are there, surely it points out that where homosexuality is practised there is a greater concern in that area," he said.
"We may not be happy with the views being expressed by others. But the difficulty comes in that at the end of the day we are human beings."
He said opponents and supporters of civil partnerships had the right to speak out, though he does not approve of those who disapprove of Islam and his Muslim Council openly expressing their opinions. Sacranie and the MCB were behind the attempts to introduce a bill, the Incitement to Religious Hatred Act which would have made criticism of Islam an offence. The Bill was defeated in the Upper House in late October, 2005.
Gay activist, Peter Tatchell, has expressed his views on Sacranie's comments as "It is tragic for one minority to attack another minority....Both the Muslim and gay communities suffer prejudice and discrimination. We should stand together to fight Islamophobia and homophobia."
Unfortunately, this will never be the case. Islam is not tolerant of anything that its paedophile prophet condemned. The consummation of the prophet's marriage with Aisha when she was nine means that in countries like Iran, a nine-year old girl is classed as an "adult" and under the Iranian penal code can be hanged from the age of nine upwards, or married.
Islam condemns homosexual acts between consenting adults, but will never condemn the actions of its Prophet who had unnatural sex with a minor.
An adult can give or refuse consent for sexual activity, a child can never give that consent. So why is Sacranie condemning homosexual acts between adults? I would love to see the day that Sacranie condemns paedophilia, a far worse "crime" against nature, but Sacranie so far has made no effort in this direction. I wonder why?
