Iran: Russia's Nuclear Fuel Offer Rejected

Yesterday, on a Sunday political talk show, timid General and failed politician Wesley Clark warned against striking Iran's nuclear facilities because he feared a repeat of the bad intelligence so-called scandal. The only intelligence needed to discern Iran's intentions is the one that resides on the brains of people. General Clark should try using his sometimes: Iran rejects Russia's nuclear fuel offer

Iran's chief nuclear negotiator has rejected Russias offer to produce nuclear fuel in its plants for Iran. The offer is part of efforts to resolve a diplomatic impasse over Tehran's nuclear programme.

Speaking on state-run television on Sunday, Ali Larijani argued the offer would deny his nation's right to "be in charge of its own fate" on energy matters.

He said Iran would be willing to have some, but not all of its nuclear fuel produced outside the country.

The Russian offer had been a compromise to allay fears in the US and European Union that Iran had ambitions to build nuclear weapons.

Once again, Mr. Diaz demonstrates he is not concerned with reporting facts.

In the Sunday night Fox News appearance, General Clark did not specifically warn against a strike on Iran at all, so of course he didn't use intelligence as the reason. Moreover, he never even used the word "scandal" which you put in quotes to imply that he did.

He was specifically asked what political challenge would the President face in "gaining public support for an invasion in Iran." To which he replied that one of Bush's problems would be that "there's going to be a lot of skepticism about the exact nature of the Iranian program because the record of our intelligence agencies on the Iraqi weapons of mass destruction program wasn't very good." If you don't think that's a fact, you really aren't paying much attention to public sentiments.

No one need take my word for what was said however. The entire transcript of the conversation, as well as the video to download, can be found at http://securingamerica.com/node/462

A further Fox News discussion of Clark's position on the Iran option, which he does not dismiss out of hand, is at http://securingamerica.com/node/463

Of course, anyone who would call Wes Clark "timid" or "failed" obviously has little regard for facts in any case.

Several things;

1. I said he 'warned' against striking the nuclear facilities, which he did.

2. I said 'timid General' and 'failed politician', which he is. (Say; how did the Serbia campaing turned out in the end: did we achieve our objectives, or did we simply handed out a State to Islam?) It is important not to omit modifiers when reporting on other people's views, especially when you do so on their websites.

3. You are right the " " around 'scandal' can be confusing, although I never implied he did. I'll change it after posting this reply.

4. I'm not happy about the tone of this entry; perhaps my new year resolution should be not to write in anger.

Have a nice day.
