Israel: Islamic Jihad Has Ended Its "Truce" With Israel

Islamic Jihad ConferenceYesterday, Israeli soldiers arrested 10 suspected members of Islamic JIhad at Tulkarem in the northern West Bank.

Earlier this evening, a statement was released by members of Islamic JIhad, written in conjunction with the Al Aqsa Martyr's Brigade, the paramilitary wing of Fatah, and the Al Quds Brigade, the military wing of Islamic Jihad, reports IMEMC, AP via Jerusalem Post and Xinhua Net.

The statement said that any dialogue under the umbrella title of "calm" will be worthless, as they do not hear answers which favour their interests regarding Palestine, Israeli withdrawal, and releasing of Palestinian detainees.

During this "truce" period, Islamic Jihad conducted a suicide bombing at Hadera market in northern Israel on October 26, which killed six, a suicide attack at Netanya, which killed five on December 5, and a double suicide attack at an Israeli army checkpoint south of Tulkarem on December 29.

Such sloppy observance of a truce is "explained" in the statement as a response to Israel: "The Zionist enemy continued its crimes against our people, assassinated, and carried repeated invasions. Soldiers increase their arrests and attacks against our people and factions"

Except the people arrested or targeted, such as Nihad Khaled Abu Ghanem, or Loie Sa'adi, Islamic Jihad offices or Khader Habib have all been involved in acts of terror. Elderly Jewish civilians shopping in a market are hardly comparable, unless one has the typical whining mindset of a Jihadist.

The statement goes on to say: "We reaffirm that the official end of the truce agreed to in Cairo last March comes at midnight on Saturday."

Mohammad Hijazi, the leader of Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade said: "We will not subdue to Arab or international pressures to renew the truce unless Israel fulfills the Palestinian demands which are headed by releasing the detainees, and withdrawing from the West Bank."

"Israel should stop its assassination policy, retract its plan to create the security zone in Gaza, and stop arresting the residents."
