Israel: Islamic Jihad Claims Two Suicide Bombings In West Bank
XinhuaNet reports that at about 9.30 am local time, a Palestinian woman blew herself up at an Israeli army checkpoint near Faron village, which lies near two Jewish settlements, Shavi Shormon and Inav, south of Tulkarem in the West Bank.
Following her explosion, a Palestinian male then blew himself up as an Israeli army jeep approached. One of the soldiers on board was killed, and three other were injured.
Seven Palestinians were subsequently injured when Israeli troops opened fire at people queuing at the checkpoint. Among the injured was a woman and child.
In artillery attacks against northern Gaza last night and this morning, one Palestinian militant and a teenager had been killed.
Islamic Jihad has carried out two suicide bombings recently, killing five at Netanya on December 5 and killing six in a blast at the market in Hadera on October 26.
On November 8 two offices of a "charity" in Jenin called Daawa run by Islamic Jihad were closed down by Israeli authorities.
Islamist Iran's IRIB Broadcasting states: Gaza Strip, Dec 28 - The Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement on Tuesday rejected a call from PA head Mahmoud Abbas to halt rocket attacks on Zionist-settled towns.
Islamic Jihad's Spokesman Khaled Batch said "I think the continuation of resistance is what's better for the Palestinian people.
