Russia: Suicide Bombing Near Dagestan Mosque
Earlier today, a man in Dagestan wearing an explosive belt detonated it, killing himself and injuring one other person, states South Africa's IOL and Mosnews. Abdul Musayev, a spokesperson for the local Interior Ministry branch, claimed the explosion probably happened accidentally.
RIA-Novosti quotes witnesses who said the man appeared to be walking towards a house in Makhachkala, where a mourning ceremony was taking place, to commemorate the death of a top police official's son, who was shot dead on Tuesday evening.
The event on Tuesday had happened when gunmen fired on a car used by Deputy Interior Minister Magomed Gazimagomedov (who was not present). His son, a security officer, and a bodyguard were in the car, and were shot dead.
