Denmark: EU Commissioner Joins Muslims In Attacking Mohammed Cartoons

Frattini the pratAs a citizen of Britain, I have watched the European Union grow from being a trading group to a vast bureaucracy, dictating on issues which were never imagined when Edward Heath signed the deal for Britain to join the "Common Market" as it was then known in the 1970s.

The EU has ruled on the optimum size and bend for bananas sold in European shops, and in 2003 it banned British shop-keepers from selling cheese and other goods by the pound or the ounce, forcing customers to adjust to metric. EU farming policies subsidise unworkable farms, and its fishing policies have officially destroyed the livelihoods of Cornish fishermen, who must stay on land while the Spanish enjoy the rights to deplete fish stocks in what used to be British waters. And all the while, corruption on a gargantuan scale is the order of the day in Brussels and Strasbourg.

So pardon my anger at the latest display of EUseless "diplomacy" and political correctness being puked up by the vice-chairman of the European Commission, Franco Frattini. He condemns the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten for commissioning and printing a series of 12 illustrations of the prophet Mohammed, as "thoughtless and inappropriate". The cartoons caused a group of Muslim ambassadors to demand a meeting with Danish Prime Minister, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, who sensibly refused to indulge them with an audience.

The newspaper staff and its editor, Carsten Juste, have also refused to apologise for the pictures. Franz Fuschel, one of the artists, said he did not intend to offend, "but I live in 2005, not 905 and I use my quill in the way that Danish law allows me"

Two of the illustrators, Fuschel included, have had to go into hiding. But Franco Frattini knows that they have only themselves to blame. Frattini's comments do not extend to condemning the "inappropriateness" of those who issue such death threats. Friday's edition of the Copenhagen Post reports that Frattini says that the inappropriateness of Jyllands-Posten's cartoons comes because currently there is growing animosity towards Islam.

He said to Jyllands-Posten on Thursday: "Honestly, these kinds of drawings can add to the growing Islamophobia in Europe. I fully respect the freedom of speech, but, excuse me, one should avoid making any statement like this, which only arouses and incites...growing ralicalisation."

"I am a Catholic myself, and if anyone had created a drawing of a holy Christian symbol with a bomb and a message about death, I would personally take it as an insult," he added.

Europe, land of free speech, is the place now where you run the risk of being blown up by Muslims who use the Koran, Sunna etc to justify killing our "infidel" citizens, but you do not dare to criticise the cause of such outcomes, the Prophet Mohammed himself. Mohammed, the sexual partner of a girl aged 9 (Aisha), Mohammed who ordered the decapitation of at least 700 Jews of the Banu Qurayza tribe in Medina, who were blamed to be plotting against him (their wives and children were made into slaves). Mohammed the figure who must be beyond reproach for Europeans, whose holy book in Sura 49 proclaims: "When you encounter the unbelievers on the battlefield, strike off their heads until you have crushed them completely; then bind the prisoners tightly."

Mo cartoon

Just to remind you of the outrage of the cartoons, here is one of them. It is just a picture. If Europeans are being condemned by jumped-up bureaucrats like Frattini for producing pictures, then there should be more. Most European nations struggled for centuries to achieve freedom of speech, yet Frattini is prepared to see it all destroyed in the name of appeasement to populations who live in Europe, claim to be European citizens, yet who would rather our land became ruled by Sharia rather than democracy and freedom of speech. As a European citizen, I was never given a chance to vote on Frattini, who is showing himself to be a "EUseful Idiot", to borrow from Lenin.

When Frattini was acting in his capacity as European Commissioner for Justice, Freedom and Security, we reported on his attempts to remove the words "Islamic" from any discussion of terrorism.

"You cannot use the term Islamic terrorism. Islam is being misused. People who commit suicide attacks or criminal activities on behalf of religion, Islamic religion or other religion, they abuse the name of this religion. I have suggested to avoid calling it Islamic terrorism It is very important, otherwise, we risk involuntarily of course other reaction which is also worrying and dangerous, a sentiment of Islamophobia. Diversity of religion and cultures is another value for the European Union. It is not a danger, it is not a threat."
With a misquided appeaser such as this in charge of "Justice, Freedom and Security", Heaven help us all....
