US: Australian Muslim Scholar Denied Entry At Airport

Yahya Says No to ShaitanAustralia's News.com.au reports that an Islamic lecturer has been barred from entering the United States by customs agents in Detroit.

He was detained for five hours, denied an entry visa, and then put on a plane to Canada. He had been due to talk at an Islamic conference in Houston, Texas, before 4,000 people.

No reason was given by the US authorities for their actions.

Yahya CDMr Ibrahim, who is deputy principal of the Australian Islamic College, frequently lectures in the US. According to Islamic World.net, he "currently lectures twice a year in New Zealand, USA, and Canada respectively. He has lectured in just about every US state, Canada, the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia. He remains a graduate of the University of Toronto (Geology and Geographic Information Systems) and a student of Education and Behaviour Management."

He has lectured at three Perth universities, states News.com.au.

Of Egyptian extraction, Yahya Ibrahim was born in Waterloo, Ontario, in Canada. He has translated numerous Arabic texts into English, and he writes books. He also does fairly good business with sales of DVDs and Audio CDs featuring his lectures (pictured).
