Italy: Three Algerian Suspected Islamists Arrested
A report from UPI and AKI, states that three Algerians have been arrested in the Naples area of Italy. The individuals are suspected of belonging to the Algerian Islamist group with links to al-Qaeda, the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat, or GSPC.
The investigation into their activities, code-named "Full Moon" began on November 20, when they were identified as associates of a known GSPC member.
Investigators have claimed that the widening of the inquiry to involve police in other nations has revealed much information concerning the current state of GSPC.
Last week there were dawn raids at homes and offices in Liguria, Lombardy and the southern region of Campania. These searches were carried out against homes and property of Algerian individuals suspected of links with GSPC.
