Pakistan: Islamic Group Reacts to US Ambassador's Comments

From IRNA, the Islamic Republic News Agency, mouthpiece of Iran's Islamist regime:

Pakistani Islamic group angrily reacts to US ambassador's remarks

An Islamic group in Pakistan has angrily reacted to remarks by American ambassador, who asked the government not to allow extremist Islamic groups to work in the earthquake-hit Kashmir.

U.S ambassador in Islamabad Rian C. Crocker expressed concern over the relief activities of what he called Jehadi organizations in quake affected areas and pointed out that the banned group Lashkar Tayeba is using new name of Jamaat ud Dawaa.

"Jamaat ud Dawaa is busy only in relief work to help the earthquake survivors. We are not involved in militancy.
So no one should be concerned at our relief activities, Jamaat ud Dawaa central spokesman Yahya Mujahid's said over phone from Lahore when his reaction was sought.

We are only helping helpless people.

"The US ambassador reaction to our relief activities is not justified," Mujahid said.

Jamaat ud Dawaa spokesman said the group was among the first relief organizations to reach the quake-hit zone and took part in the rescue and relief operations.

We have set up tent villages for shelter and are providing food and medical facilities to thousands of survivors, who are in dire need of help, the spokesman said.

He also referred to the last month reported remarks of President General Pervez Musharraf, who praised relief activities of Jamaat ud Dawaa and al-Rashid trust.
