Germany: Three Islamists Indicted On Terror Charges

Three men were last week indicted on terrorism charges, states Expatica. The three men will be put on trial shortly, in Dusseldorf.

The Federal Prosecutor's Office in Karlsruhe stated that two of the men have been charged with being members of al-Qaeda, while the other is charged with supporting a terrorist group.

German laws prevent journalists disclosing surnames of defendants so they are identified as Ibrahim Mohamed K, who is believed to be a Syrian national, and two brothers of Palestinian origin, 32 year old Yasser Abu-S and 29 year old Ismail Abu-S. The Palestinians are technically "stateless".

Ibrahim Mohemed K lived in Mainz and is said to have recruited the two brothers. Yasser Abu-S was a medical student with potential. The younger brother, who was arrested in May, is accused of supporting terrorism.

Ibrahim Mohamed K had attempted unsuccessfully to purchase nuclear material for a radiological dispersal device, or "dirty bomb", it is alleged. He is said to have been part of the command structure of al-Qaeda, and to have been in contact with bin Laden. He fought US troops in Afghanistan between 2001 and 2002.
