Holland: Muslim Cleric Warned To Moderate Views or Leave Country
Expatica reports that the Mayor of the Hague, Wim Deetman, has told Imam Sheikh Fawaz Jneid of the As Soennah mosque to calm down his views, or leave the country.
Fawaz Jneidin earlier stated on a website that Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the Somali born MP who is living in hiding after Islamist's death-threats, is being "blown away by the winds of changing times." She had viewed these remarks as a threat.
His comments had been made in reference to Ayaan Hirsi Ali's latest project, a film called Submission II, in which she explores the issues of Islam and gay persecution. Her previous film, Submission, concerned Islam and the negative treatment of women. It was directed by Theo van Gogh, grandson of Vincent, who was subsequently murdered on Nov 2, 2004.
The imam's conversation with the Hague mayor was reported on his own website on Friday, Expatica claims.
A spokesman for Wim Deetman confirmed that a meeting had taken place between Sheikh Fawaz Jneid and Mayor Deetman, but would not comment further.
