Pakistan: Islamists Killed by Their Own Bomb

From Pravda and Associated Press via WBOC 16, news that a bomb has exploded near the Pakistan town of Miran Shah this morning.

Miran Shah is close to the Afghanistan border, in North Waziristan. According to Syed Zaheerul Islam, a government administrator, the explosion took place before dawn, and was the result of Islamists making a bomb inside a home. An intelligence official stated that the explosion was a result of a botched rocket launch.

Five people were killed, and two injured. The dead included three foreigners who are believed to come from Uzbekistan. Another of the injured is said to be an Uzbeki. The other dead were a five-year old boy and a 17 year old college student, who were relatives of a fugitive tribesman from the area.

There are currently thousand s of Pakistani troops in the region, who are hunting for foreign Islamic militants who are hiding out in the rugged terrain of this border region. These militants are said to be Arabs, Central Asians and Afghans.

About 500 students went on a protest march after the death of the teenager, blaming the government and the US for the "attack on innocent people."
